Teaching ESL to teens

Teaching ESL to teens may be challenging but it can also be a rewarding experience. I have worked as a teacher at secondary school for twenty-two years and I am proud to say I can still connect with my students. How is that possible in today's world? We need to learn how to speak their language.

Of course we are teaching them language but we must also learn their codes. Committing to teaching means caring for our students. We must learn how to see them. We must learn how to listen to them. We must learn how to bond.

Teenagers notice many things that may be irrelevant to adults. They value our dedication and our passion for teaching. They are the best judges of our work.

The hardest mission for us teachers is to get our students to connect with the language and with our teaching methods. Fun is of the utmost importance. If we are not having fun in the class, they will definitely not have fun either. So this is why I have started this blog: to share my experience in the classroom and to encourage other teachers to enjoy their job as much as I have enjoyed mine.
